7.1 QR Code background
7.1.1 QR Codes must be on a plain, light background to provide very high contrast, and not be printed over graphics.
7.1.2 It is recommended that there are no decorative distortions and the grid should not be compromised.
7.1.3 The inclusion of logos in the centre reduces the ability of the inbuilt error correction to work. So whilst not being recommended, where there are logos - they must be centred, and the error correction level used when creating the QR Code (as defined in ISO/IEC 18004), must be Level H. Any logo should cover no more than 20 percent of the code area. The size of the printed QR Code will need to be increased compared to one without a logo to counter the increased complexity of the Code. The QR Code should be printed on a matte/non-gloss material to reduce glare, and if being used outside - on a water-resistant paper, which will resist degradation for the expected life of the printed material.
